The former Australia skipper continued to prove why he is considered one of the greatest batters in the Test format. Steve Smith played 13 matches and scored 929 runs with three centuries and three half-centuries.

1- Usman Khawaja – Autralia – 1210 runs

The veteran Australian batter was the only player to breach the 1000-run mark during 2023. In early 2023, Khawaja scored his career-best 195 not out versus South Africa and it began a year filled with runs for the batter. In 13 matches, Khawaja scored 1210 runs with 3 centuries with an average of 52.6 making him the best test batter of 2023.
