The Indian Cricket Board's annual award ceremony (Naman Awards) was held in Hyderabad on Tuesday (January 23) after a gap of four years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event honoured Indian cricketers, both former and current, for the period 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23, for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the game.

Mohammad Shami (2019-20), Ravichandran Ashwin (2020-21), Jasprit Bumrah (2021-22) and Shubman Gill (2022-23) bagged the Polly Umrigar Best International Cricketer award in the Men's category. Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma won the Best International Cricketer award in the Women's category.

4. Ravichandran Ashwin

Veteran cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin is the only spinner in history to win the Polly Umrigar Award. He has also won it twice. Ashwin's first triumph was in 2012-13 and the next came 8 years later (2020-21).

3. Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is one of the three pacers to win the prestigious award along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami. However, Bumrah is the only one to win it twice - 2018-19 and 2021-22. The right-arm seamer stopped Virat Kohli from winning the award four times in a row. 

2. Sachin Tendulkar

The Indian Cricket Board's first award ceremony was held in 2006-07 and the legendary Sachin Tendulkar was the first to win this prestigious award. The batting maestro became the first player to win the award multiple times after receiving the honour in 2009-10. 

1. Virat Kohli

The modern-day legend Virat Kohli holds the record for winning the Polly Umrigar award most times in history. The former India captain has won the prize record five times - 2011-12, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2017-18, 2018-19. Kohli is the only player to win this award twice in a row, showing his sheer dominance on the field.
