The stage was set for an enthralling battle between Bangalore and Mumbai at the Chinnaswamy stadium on 2 April 2023. It was the season opener for both teams in the ongoing Indian T20 League. However, the former Bangalore great, AB de Villiers was present in the stadium to witness the high-voltage clash.

Bangalore did not disappoint their fans as they registered a comfortable eight-wicket victory. But, Sadhguru got spotted in the stadium enjoying the match. Even, now an image has gone viral where AB de Villiers was seen greeting Sadhguru. Seeing that pic, fans went crazy and shared their views on the social media platform.

Notably, Sadhguru is an Indian mystic and Yogi. He is also the author of hugely impactful books and the founder of the Isha Foundation, based in Coimbatore, India. So, it was quite surprising to see him together with the former Protea batter in the stands. Speaking about AB de Villiers, he visited Chinnaswamy on 26 March 2023. The Bangalore franchise organised an ‘Unbox’ event to launch their new jersey for this ongoing season. In that event, they also retired the jerseys of both Chris Gayle and de Villiers as a token of respect to them. 

In that event, de Villiers shared his views on the franchise and the love he has for them. AB de Villiers and Gayle both got inducted into the ‘Hall of Fame’ of the franchise. De Villiers said: “I think the team is too good at the moment. We won't get a chance in the starting XI. We would rather be fans and support the boys to bring the Trophy back home. Ee Saala Cup Namde (This year, the trophy is our's)”. He played for the franchise from 2011 to 2021. During that timeline, he played 156 matches and scored 4491 runs, including two centuries.
