The defending champions had a poor start as they lost the wicket of Rahmanullah Gurbaz early. At 20/1, the likes of Towhid Hridoy (24) and Charitha Asalanka put together 55 runs for the second wicket. However, after the fall of Hridoy in 11.3 overs, this started a procession of wickets. Even though Asalanka got 56 off 52 balls, the others couldn't do much and the team was restricted to 129/7.
