The wait for Chennai's first win in the Indian T20 league 2022 has officially come to an end. Chennai finally got to two points on Tuesday as they beat Bangalore by 23 runs. The defending champions were just too good for the Faf du Plessis-led side.

After being asked to bat first, Chennai's batters were hitting sixes for fun. However, they didn't really have a merry start as Ruturaj Gaikwad failed once again. The 2022 edition keeps getting worse for the opener as he had to depart for 17. Moeen Ali didn't last too long either as he perished in the seventh over. However, what followed after that was absolute mayhem.

Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube put together a 165-run partnership. The veteran opener showed everyone why the experts rate him so highly in the Indian T20 league. He scored a brilliant 88 from 50 balls. Uthappa's knock came at a strike rate of 176, and consisted of four fours and nine boundaries.

On the other hand, Dube scored an unbeaten 95 off 46 deliveries, and was unlucky to miss out on a hundred. He showed no mercy on Bangalore's bowlers. This enabled the four-time champions to a mammoth total of 216-4 in their stipulated 20 overs. Thus, the fans witnessed some enthralling cricket.

When it comes to the second innings, Bangalore were never really in the chase. They lost their first three wickets in the powerplay overs itself. Their key player such as their skipper Faf, Kohli and Maxwell failed to impress. Things didn't get better as the Bangalore-based franchise lost wickets at regular intervals.

The debutant Suyash Prabhudesai gave the Bangalore fans a glimmer of hope as he hit some lusty blows. However, he too was dismissed for an 18-ball 34. Maheesh Theekshana was the pick of the bowlers as he picked four-fer, and gave 33 runs in his full quota of four overs. At the end, Bangalore fell short of their target by 23 runs.
