Chennai are certainly going through a rough patch in the ongoing edition of the Indian T20 League 2022. They have made a horrible start to their campaign this season. Under the leadership of a new captain in Ravindra Jadeja, Chennai have lost both the games they have played thus far in the competition.

The franchise began the season with a 6-wicket defeat by the hands of Kolkata. They could only manage to score 131 runs in that game. The Yellow Army showcased an improved batting performance in the next match as they notched a mammoth score of 210 runs. However, despite that, they went on to lose the game by 6 wickets against Lucknow.

Chennai biggest worry right now is their lackluster bowling unit. Prior to the start of the tournament, they were dealt with a big blow as Deepak Chahar suffered an injury. As a result of that, he will miss out on a major chunk of the tournament. Overseas fast bowler, Adam Milne couldn’t play the last game due to an injury. It’s still not sure if he is available for the next match or not.

To add further misery, it has been revealed that English paceman Chris Jordan is currently suffering from a tonsil infection. As per recent reports, he was hospitalized on 26th March and he remained there for six days. Jordan missed the first two games of the tournament and might not play the third match as well.

In the absence of three fast bowlers, Chennai had to try young pacers in the squad. Tushar Deshpande has played both the games, while Mukesh Choudhary made his debut against Lucknow. Chennai are currently in a spot of bother, having lost both their first two games. With their senior pacemen not available, Chennai might struggle in the upcoming matches as well.

Ravindra Jadeja and Co. are slated to play their next match against Punjab on Sunday at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
