Dale Steyn comes up with a response to Broadcasters over Rinku Singh’s six
Indian batting sensation Rinku Singh left a lasting impression in Gqeberha which broke the commentary box glass. There was a huge dent after the 26-year-old’s straight six had smashed into the window pane.
With three balls to go in the Indian innings, there was a stoppage in play due to rain. At this point, the broadcaster said “Take a look at that six, but it proved to be costly. It broke a glass in the media box. We have a picture of it. That is what it has resulted in”.
Dale Steyn was quick to respond to the broadcast team when he said “Yes, and someone in the eastern bay of Gqeberha won’t be too happy with Rinku Singh breaking one of their windows”. The statement was made in jest as the South African great was heard lauding the young Indian batter.
“Wonderful shots. The off-spinners are kind of difficult to get hold of. Aiden Markram saw a gap himself there. He had picked up a wicket so maybe he thought ‘Let me squeeze another one here or slip in a quick over’. But Rinku Singh had a different idea. Managed to come down the wicket and get to the pitch of that delivery and just break a window in the process. Nevertheless, it was a great shot”
India managed to score 180/7 after 19.3 overs before the rains came down. Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh scored half-centuries for the men in blue. The target for South Africa was revised to 152 from 15 which the home team got with an over to spare. The final game of the series will be played on Thursday in Johannesburg with South Africa leading 1-0.
