England faced Afghanistan in their first group match of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Both teams played this match on the turf of WACA stadium in Perth. English skipper Jos Buttler won the toss and decided to bowl first. The young English pacer Sam Curran stunned everyone with his stunning five-fer as he scalped five wickets by conceding just 10 runs in 3.4 overs.
Other than Curran, premier pacer Mark Wood also created history on the day as he bowled all 24 balls of his four overs at more than the speed of 140 kmph. England bundled up the Afghan side only on the score of 112 runs in 19.4 overs.
While chasing the target, England also seemed to struggle as they lost their five wickets to cross the line and chase the target of 113 runs. Even after the five-wicket win of England, the fans came up with their critical opinions on Twitter as England have missed a chance to boost their NRR.
Here’s how fans reacted to England’s win against Afghanistan:
England did win the game but they would be thinking they missed an opportunity to get their NRR boost. Hope that doesn't cause a problem to them in future #ENGvAFG #AFGvENG #T20WorldCup

#England win but not as convincingly as they would have liked as a combination of disciplined bowling from #Afghanistan and some easy peasy batting from their batters let their NRR not as boosted as it might have been #T20WorldCup #AFGvsENG #ENGvsAFG #ENGvAFG #AFGvENG

That is an effort you would see from a goalkeeper in football but instead Buttler has to actually catch it. 🤯#T20WorldCup pic.twitter.com/SBoSNXtH3W
