Being an Indian cricketer isn't easy, especially after what happened in the fifth Test match against England. Players are getting criticized from the right, left, and center. There is no escape for them as the team failed to defend a total of as huge as 378. The last time India failed to defend a total of more than 300 runs was against Australia in 1977.

The world number two Test side has had some great bowling resources that have won a lot of games in the last few years. However, this year, for some reason, the team failed to defend totals in three games. Meanwhile, one of the players who has been getting a lot of criticism is Rohit Sharma. The skipper of the team missed the fifth Test which eventually proved costly.

In an interaction with media ahead of the first T20I game against the same team, the right-hander has said it is good to be back playing for the country. He added that he is excited to be back with the team.

“It's always good to be back playing for your country no doubt. You don't any games for your country but certain things are not in your control. It's beyond your control. Now that I'm back, I am pretty excited and looking forward. Speaking about my interaction with VVS Laxman, I wanted to understand what was happening with the team all this while,” said Rohit.

“This is the first day I joined the team. They have been travelling to Ireland and played a couple of practice games as well. I'm trying to understand what sort of mindset the boys are in. It was just about catching up on things which I wasn't part of.”

However, the fans are not buying his words. They feel that if that's the case, then why did the Mumbaikar took a rest for the ODI series against the West Indies series, to be played later this month.
