The Australians are on the receiving end of harsh criticism from the fraternity following the end of the first Test match against South Africa only on the second day of the match. Notably, the Aussie skipper won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first at the above-required bouncy track of Brisbane Cricket Ground in Brisbane.
The pair of senior bowlers, Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc scalped six wickets collectively alongside two wickets taken by Pat Cummins and pacer Scott Boland. The hosts managed to take a lead of 66 runs in the first innings and bundled up Dean Elgar’s men on 99 runs in the second innings. It came up with a target of only 34 runs in the fourth innings.
The match ended up in a complete drama as Australia lost their four wickets off Kagiso Rabada even in the chase of 34 runs and won the match by six wickets.
In the same sequence of criticism, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has lashed out at Australia for the below-average pitch of Brisbane Cricket Ground. The former blistering opener went on to question the attitude of Australians while making a comparison between their wickets to those of in the sub-continent.
“142 overs and not even lasting 2 days and they have the audacity to lecture on what kind of pitches are needed. Had it happened in India, it would have been labeled end of test cricket, ruining test cricket and whatnot. The Hypocrisy is mind-boggling,” reads the tweet posted by Sehwag on his Twitter handle.

In another post on Instagram, Sehwag posted snapshots of the scoreboard of the first Brisbane Test between Australia and South Africa.
He captioned it as “Twaada kutta kutta, saada kutta Tommy” followed by another remark “Hypocrisy ki Bhi Seema hoti hai (laughing emoji)”.
Notably, the former Australian cricketers and experts had questioned the Indian tracks for being more turning and called them below average.
