The Hundred 2022 group stage turned out to be a cracker with a lot of players shining out on the field. Alongside several close games, many players stood out from the rest, and were simply sensational.
We have handpicked the five best players from the tournament and have ranked them accordingly. Here are the five players who gave their best in The Hundred 2022:
1) Dawid Malan (Trent Rockets):
Dawid Malan has been exceptional for Trent Rockets this year. He ended up amassing the most number of runs at the end of the group stage. The batter ended up scoring as many as 358 runs in the tournament and might end up getting more runs after the finals.
The English star averages 59.67 in the tournament so far and has four fifties to his name. He will take the number one position in the Hundred 2022's top performers.
2) Tom Helm (Birmingham Phoenix):
The leading wicket-taker of the tournament stands second on the list for his exceptional bowling display. The pacer maintained an economy of 6.95 at the end of the group stage and came up with the best spell of 4/17.
Although his team Birmingham Phoenix have been ruled out of the tournament, he stood up for his team and produced some stellar spells. The 34-year-old ended his stint in the season with a total of 14 wickets.
3) Jordan Thompson (London Spirit):
Jordan Thompson, the joint leading wicket-taker with 14 scalps, will stand third in the lest and he is no less than Tom Helm. The only difference between the two is the economy rate as the Spirit bowler has an economy rate of 7.61 at the end of the group stage.
His team will play the eliminator against Manchester Originals and he might end up as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament even if his team misses out on the finals.
4) Philip Salt (Manchester Originals):
The batter displayed some of his classic best in the season and is currently the second-highest run-getter in the tournament at an average of 44.71.
The 26-year-old will play against London Spirit in the eliminator and might as well end up as the highest run-getter surpassing Dawid Malan given the latter's team is out of the tournament. The batter has amassed 313 runs at the end of the group stage so far.
5) Adam Lyth (Northern Superchargers):
It was a tough decision to bring in Adam Lyth and leave out Alex Hales, but the former gets a go-ahead because of his average. Although Will Jacks stands in between the two, Alex Hales might have made it because of the number of sixes he smashed. However, we have ranked Adam Lyth as the fifth best performer of the Hundred 2022.
The batter collected as many as 299 runs to his name at an average of 37.38 and smashed 22 sixes. The southpaw was extremely consistent for his team and his team, Northern Superchargers are out of the tournament.
