The Indian T20 league mega auction isn't too far. The auction for this edition is all set to take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. Thus, all teams have already started their auction strategies. Chennai skipper and "Thala" MS Dhoni has already reached Chennai in order to prepare for the event.
As the Chennai skipper is already in the town, the franchise shall discuss various permutations and combinations pertaining to the upcoming auction. It is to be noted that the defending champions have currently retained four players. Them being MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali.
In fact, Dhoni took a pay cut to promote Ravindra Jadeja as the first pick of the team for Rs. 16 crores. Thus, this is one of the many instances where the legend showcased his loyalty towards the four-time champions. While they retained Moeen Ali for INR 8 crore, Ruturaj Gaikwad was retained for INR 6 crore.

In the meanwhile, 1,214 players have registered for the mega auction. Out of which, Australia leads the charge with 49 players from the country. Among others are South Africa (48) and the West Indies (41). A few players from associate nations have registered for the mega auction as well. Thus, several teams would have these players on their radar.
Moreover, with four to five teams looking for a captain, many players are going to be in huge demand during the mega auction. Besides, with the addition of two new teams, i.e. Ahmedabad and Lucknow, a lot of players would be getting a contract this time around.
