Notably, India and Pakistan are all set to cross the swords in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 commencing on the 27th of August later this month. Both teams will play against each other on the 28th of August next Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. There came a major blow for the Pakistani team when star pacer Shaheen Afridi was ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury.

Following the news, former Pakistani speedster Waqar Younis took to Twitter for mocking the Indian batters after the exclusion of Shaheen Afridi from the squad. Although, his tweet didn’t go down well with the former veteran Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan. He came up with a befitting reply to the Pakistani legend.

“Shaheen’s injury Big relief for the Indian top order batsmen. Sad we won’t be seeing him in #AsiaCup2022 Get fit soon Champ,” wrote Waqar in his tweet. Following this tweet, he fell prey to the anger of Indian cricket fans on Twitter.

Then, the time came when Irfan Pathan took the charge and tweeted back in response to the remarks of the Pakistani stalwart.

“It’s a relief of other teams that Bumrah and Harshal aren’t playing this Asia cup,” replied Pathan in his tweet to Waqar.

Notably, senior Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were ruled out of the tournament due to the injuries they sustained recently. Apart from this, both teams have announced their squads for the multi-team continental tournament.
