Chennai has been one of the most successful teams in the history of the Indian T20 League. They have won four titles so far and all under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. However, the franchise missed two editions of the tournament in 2016 and 2017 respectively. They got banned from the tournament due to match-fixing and betting activities.

Thus, the Justice Lodha Committee announced a ban on the franchise for two years. However, they made a comeback and are currently, getting prepared for the upcoming edition. But, fans have always teased Chennai franchises in reference to the same matter since then. Now, on 9 March 2023, Netflix announced that a documentary related to cricket match-fixing scandals will be released.

Fans have started to Chennai franchise over the news of the release of this new documentary 

The name of the documentary is “Caught Out: Crime, Corruption, Cricket”. It will be based on the biggest match-fixing scandals that have rocked the world of international cricket. It will stream from 17 March 2023, and Supriya Sobti Gupta will be the director. Cricket has always been known as a ‘Gentlemen’s game’. But, its image got tarnished due to the match-fixing scandals and allegations that started to galore in 2000. So, fans were happy to see that and shared their excitement on social media. Chennai faced that ban due to the fixing allegations that were made in 2013.

In the 2013 edition of the Indian T20 League, Chennai took on Mumbai in the final. On the day of the final, Gurunath Meiyappan was arrested on the charges of spot-fixing. He also suffered a life ban from all the cricket matches conducted by the Indian Cricket Board. Apart from Chennai, another franchise Rajasthan franchise also faced a ban for two years as their owner, Raj Kundra suffered a life ban from all the cricket matches conducted by the Indian Cricket Board. So, fans are hoping that they can come up with some unknown facts about such matters with the release of this new documentary on fixing scandals.
