In a major blow to South Africa, skipper Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of the T20I series against Pakistan. Bavuma suffered a grade one strain in the 3rd ODI against Pakistan and subsequently has been ruled out of the series. Along with Bavuma, South Africa are sweating over the fitness of Rassie van der Dussen, who too has a grade one left quadriceps muscle strain. He, however, has been named in the T2OI squad but his participation is still not certain.

Dwaine Pretorius is still recovering from a rib fracture and isn’t fit enough to play the T20I series. Reeza Hendricks has also pulled out of the series due to the birth of his first child. The injuries have forced South Africa to retain Aiden Markram, Andile Phehlukwayo, Daryn Dupavillon and Wiaan Mulder from the ODI squad. Kyle Verreynne along with three uncapped players are also part of the 18 man squad. The first T20I will be played at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on April 10th.

South Africa went down 2-1 in the ODI series and it will be a massive challenge for them to pip an inform Pakistan in the T20I series.
