On the red carpet at the fourth annual Indian Sports Honors in Mumbai on Thursday, it was a starry night. Bollywood celebrities Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma were present to honour the athletic world's heroes.
Deepika and Ranveer made their way down the red carpet with her father, badminton player Prakash Padukone. Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Angad Bedi, Neha Dhupia, and Rhea Chakraborty were among the other stars spotted. Shubman Gill, a cricket player, and Neeraj Chopra, an Olympic gold medalist, dressed appropriately.
Shubman Gill won two awards on the night
Cricketer Virat made a rare public appearance for the awards show with his wife, Anushka Sharma. Anushka wore a lilac off-the-shoulder gown with diamond earrings, while the former Indian captain sported a dark suit with a red cravat in his front pocket. "Most beautiful couple ever" and "God bless you guys always" were comments on social media by admirers. In the event, the two were also seen cheering on Shubman Gill, who won two awards on the night. Details of the same will be made available after the show's official broadcast on the Star Network this Sunday.
The former world number one in badminton, Prakash Padukone, paired in black with Deepika and Ranveer. Also, in 1980, he became the first Indian to win the All-England Open Badminton Championships. On the red carpet, they posed for pictures as a couple. Deepika donned a plain yet eye-catching black saree, while Ranveer Singh and Prakash both wore black suits.
With his wife, actor Neha Dhupia, Angad Bedi, the son of former Indian cricket captain Bishan Singh Bedi, also made an appearance on the night. He wore a blue suit, while Neha wore a moss-green contemporary saree. 2018 saw the marriage of Angad and Neha, who now have two kids.
In the upcoming historical drama Maidaan, Ajay Devgan, who plays football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, was also spotted at the gathering. Both the Pro Kabaddi League franchise team Jaipur Pink Panthers and the Indian Super League football team Chennaiyin FC are owned by Abhishek Bachchan, who also was among the attendees.
