India and South Africa are all set to lock horns with each other in the final of the five-match T20 series on Sunday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. South Africa made a strong start in the series with two consecutive wins.
However, India stormed back with wins in the 3rd and 4th T20 internationals. India would be looking to continue the winning momentum and South Africa aren’t likely to give up easily. Whosever wins the final match will take the series.
Ahead of the most important clash in the series, here’s a look at how both teams shape up:
India:
Team News:
After losing two consecutive games, India have done exceedingly well to register two back-to-back wins in their last two games. The likes of Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, and Dinesh Karthik are in outstanding form but Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer also need to make it count.
As far as bowling is concerned, India aren’t likely to make a single change. Avesh Khan has returned to form and this is a big boost for them.
Players to watch out for:
- Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan has been the best batter for India in this series. In 4 matches, he has managed to score 191 runs at an average of 47.75 and a strike rate of 146.92.
- Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik played an outstanding match-winning knock in the last game. South Africa’s bowling unit had no answer to the carnage produced by Karthik. He will be a player to watch out for.
- Hardik Pandya
Hardik Pandya is the second highest run-getter for India in the series. The Indian all-rounder has shown great finishing abilities in the series. He is someone you can bet on. So far, Hardik Pandya has managed to score 117 runs in 4 matches at an average and a strike rate of 58.50 and 153.
Probable Playing XI
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan
South Africa
South Africa would be disappointed to have lost their last two games despite registering a 2-0 series at the start. Temba Bavuma hurt himself in the last game and Hendricks is likely to replace him. Kagiso Rabada and Wayne Parnell are expected to make their return as well.
Players to watch out for:
- Quinton de Kock
Quinton de Kock, unfortunately, got run-out in the last game. He is the biggest bet for South Africa in the batting department. The southpaw can singlehandedly take the game away from India if gets going.
- Rassie van der Dussen
Rassie van der Dussen has got out cheaply in the last two games but you expect him to make a significant contribution in the final match. In 4 matches, he has 97 runs to his name at 32.33.
- Kagiso Rabada
Kagiso Rabada missed out the last game but is likely to make his return to the eleven in the next game. Rabada’s four over spell is going to prove handy to the team’s fortune in the last game.
Predicted Playing XI:
R Hendricks, Quinton de Kock (wk), Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Dwaine Pretorius, Keshav Maharaj, W Parnell, K Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Anrich Nortje

Pitch Report:
The 5th T20 international is slated to be played between India and South Africa at M Chinnaswamy stadium on Sunday. Chinnaswamy stadium is considered to be a batting paradise and one can expect a high-scoring contest on Sunday. Having said that, fast bowlers can get little assistance from the surface.
