Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has offered his best wishes to the people of Pakistan and the cricket community following Pakistan's exit from the ODI World Cup 2023. Pakistan secured the 5th rank with 8 points after a defeat to defending champions England, while England finished 7th on the tally with 6 points, concluding their campaign.

The former India legendary batter Ganguly praised "The Pavilion" which is  a popular cricket show during the World Cup, featuring cricket legends like Wasim Akram, Misbah-ul-Haq, Moin Khan, and Shoaib Malik for its engaging banter and insightful analysis. Ganguly expressed his admiration for Wasim Akram and extended good wishes to Pakistani viewers and the cricket fraternity.

“Best wishes to all viewers from Pakistan. I have always enjoyed my connection with Pakistan. I still remember that 2004 tour of Pakistan. What a tour it was, the memories are still fresh in my mind. Wasim Bhai is there, Misbah, Shoaib and Moin Khan… Moin has grown too old, his hair has turned grey. Colour them, like we do. It will look good,” Ganguly said on A Sports.

I like the way Wasim Akram scolds Pakistan players: Ganguly

The former India opener also went on to say that it is good to see Wasim Akram spending some time at home finally. Ganguly also said that he loves the show and follows the show. The star India batter also confronted on the fact that he loves the way in which the legendary Pakistan bowler Wasim Akram scolds the Pakistan players if they do something wrong.

“It’s good to see Wasim bhai at home. Earlier, it felt like he has roller skates fixed to his legs. Because someday he was in Delhi, the next day he was in Mumbai, or Pakistan or South Africa. But now he is spending some time with his family. His kids have grown up. I saw the picture of his son on Instagram. He’s more handsome than him. I follow the show and I like the way Wasim bhai scolds the Pakistan players. Love to everyone,” Ganguly said

Team India secured a spot in the World Cup semi-final as the top-ranked side in the group stage. The former Indian Cricket Board President also discussed the factors contributing to India's cricketing strength. He shared his thoughts on what he believes could aid Pakistan in bouncing back from their disappointing campaign as they failed to reach the last four stage of the World Cup.
