Former Indian batter and commentator Aakash Chopra has recently lauded the secretary of the Indian Cricket Board Jay Shah. It is because of the fact that recently Shah has expressed confidence in team India to field multiple teams at a single time in the future. Before, also talked about the special depth of the future generation of Indian cricket.

Notably, the BCCI is on the way to planning and preparing a chart of 50 cricketers available at a single time to play for India at the international level. Board has also confirmed that the chief of the National Cricket Academy VVS Laxman will also be there to help. He will instruct the players if required in any situation.

It has been seen in the last few years that Indian management has fielded multiple teams. That too at the international level in a single time. All thanks to the strong bench strength India possesses. It has also helped the board to replace or rest the players if there is any injury issue or any other reason.

Speaking about this plan of the Indian cricket board’s secretary Jay Shah, Aakash Chopra went on to take a subtle dig in his statement.

India couldn’t win a single game in South Africa in 2022 - Aakash Chopra

“Our Honorable BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had said that with the help of VVS Laxman, who is the head at NCA, they are preparing a pool of 50 players. With such depth, you feel proud as an Indian. But you need to take this with a pinch of salt,” Chopra was quoted as saying on his YouTube Channel.

Later on, he recalled the debuts of Devdutt Padikkal, Chetan Sakariya, and Ruturaj Gaikwad. It was the time when the Indian management fielded the second-string team against Sri Lanka.

“India had sent a second-string side to Sri Lanka. The likes of Chetan Sakariya, Devdutt Padikkal, and Ruturaj Gaikwad made their debuts there. After whatever happened on that tour, we were very bullish that we would field two teams and win everywhere,” he added later

“But India couldn’t win a single game in South Africa in 2022. So suddenly you realized that the depth you are talking about may not be really there. That was like a reality check,” Chopra concluded.
