In what seems a major blow, Australian Test skipper Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the second Test against West Indies. The 29-year-old sustained a quad strain in Perth during the first Test against the visitors. So, the management has named the former skipper and veteran batter Steve Smith as the stand-in skipper for the last Test against the Caribbean side.

Notably, the second test match between West Indies and the hosts Australia will also be the pink-ball test match. Australian cricket fans have also expressed their happiness and ecstasy and hailed the skipper ‘Steve Smith’.

Speaking of the captaincy record of Steve Smith, he has led the team in 34 Tests in which the team won 18 matches and lost 10 matches. Whereas six matches ended in a draw.

Australians will take on the Caribbean side in the second Test of the series at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide. Both teams will play this match tomorrow the 8th of December.

Earlier, In the first match, the hosts won the match by 164 runs to take a lead of 1-0 in the two-match Test series.

Star batter Marnus Labuschagne and former skipper, Steve Smith scored brilliant double centuries of 204 and 200 runs respectively. Continuing his brilliant batting consistency, Marnus Labuschagne scored another century in the second innings against West Indies to make things easy for his team in the match.

Skipper Pat Cummins scalped three wickets in the first innings of the Perth Test whereas he couldn’t bowl in the second innings of the match due to his quad strain.
