A magnificent century by Shoaib Khan helped Oman beat Namibia by 7 wickets in match 5 of the Sky247.Net tri-series. Chasing a target of 276 runs, Oman didn't have the best of starts. While they didn't lose wickets, they were not scoring freely. Jatinder Singh was struggling the most and crawled his way to 28 of 68 balls. Oman lost their first wicket for 94 but they were lagging behind, with the required rate touching seven. They lost their second wicket soon after.
Two quick wickets meant that Oman were tottering at 103-2 in 25 overs, with victory far away. Zeeshan Maqsood tried to give some momentum but departed soon, leaving Oman in disarray. However, Shoaib Khan, along with Khawar Ali started a counterattack and stitched an unbeaten partnership to win the game. Khan scored 105 off 75 balls, while Ali made 54 off 46.
Earlier, Namibia recovered from a shaky start and posted 275. Loftie-Eaton scored 73, while there were good contributions from Gerhard Erasmus, JJ Smit and David Wiese as well. The win took Oman to the top of the table in World Cup League 2 2019-2023, with 17 wins in 27 games. Oman earlier had lost to Namibia in their previous clash. The team has played good cricket in the tri-series and won three while losing just one game. They will next play against Namibia on March 14th.
