Three-time IPL finalists Royal Challengers Bangalore still has a large fas base across India. Despite losing three finals (2009, 2011, and 2016) and losing five playoff games (2010, 2015, 2020, 2021, and 2022), the team enjoys a loyal fan base. This year too, they are two wins away in as many games to reach the playoffs and have another chance at winning the title.

Meanwhile, during a conversation with RCB, former Australia pacer, Brett said that this franchise has been the one to look up to for a lot of kids. Taking about the 2003 World Cup winner, he played for Kings XI Punjab (2008 to 2010) and then for Kolkata Knight Riders (from 2011 to 2013). Not to forget, he was part of the IPL 2012 winning side.

Royal Challengers Bangalore to play against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 18

Meanwhile, the Faf du Plessis-led side has been alive for the race to playoffs in the ongoing IPL 2023. Last weekend, they thrashed Rajasthan Royals in the reverse fixture between them in Jaipur by 112 runs. With this, their Net Run Rate went from -0.345 to +0.166. Now, they need to win their remaining games (Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans).

The game against SRH will be played on May 18 while the match against the defending champions will be played on May 21. Notably, the RCB v GT game will be the last league game of the tournament. As the tournament has turned out, there are high chances that the fourth team for the playoffs will depend on the result of this game.

After Lucknow Super Giants' win against Mumbai Indians on May 16, the likes of Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders are set to crash out of the tournament. Former champions, SRH and the 2020 finalists, Delhi Capitals are already eliminated. With the last week of the league stage in progress, only GT is qualified for the playoffs and will now finish on first spot.
