In a shocking piece of news, the media reports learned that the Afghanistan cricketer Fazalhaq Farooqi was reportedly laid off by his BBL team Sydney Thunders. This is being reported followed by the allegations of assault and harassment towards female staff.
The authorities issued a message to Farooqi’s teammates that the latter was ordered to go back to Afghanistan in the aftermath of an investigation by an integrity unit of Cricket Australia.
But there are also a few reports from the center that players aren’t aware of the exact instructions and orders given to Afghan cricketers regarding their way back to Afghanistan.
News Corp understood that the case hasn’t been transferred to the Police as of the latest developments. Meanwhile, the officials aren’t revealing the details of what Farooqi exactly did with female staff that fell in the line of harassment. The authorities have decided to keep the entire development confidential.
Fox Cricket’s reporter Drew Jones has shared this news among the cricket fans and let them know about the entire incident.
Here's the update on Fazalhaq Farooqi's case
“Breaking news Fazalhaq Farooqi, who has been such a star for the Thunder over the opening four games of the Big Bash, has been released effective immediately from his contract,” said Jones on Friday.
“This goes back to an incident last Thursday. They haven’t specified exactly what happened, but the code of conduct commissioner at Cricket Australia has ruled that he broke the code of conduct of Cricket Australia. He has been released from his contract effective immediately, so only four games in,” he added later.
Later on, Jones also mentioned his conversation with Cricket New South Wales CEO Lee Germon.
“The behaviors displayed by Fazalhaq Farooqi sit outside our values. It was determined that his contract would be terminated. Our focus now is providing the necessary support to those affected by this incident.” Lee Germon was quoted as saying by Drew Jones.
“In accordance with the terms of the Integrity Unit investigation, no further comment will be made and no news yet on a potential replacement,” Germon’s statement reads further.
