Out of favour India opener Shikhar Dhawan recently sat down with the Times of India newspaper. The 38-year-old was asked a variety of questions ranging from his playing days to his teammates.

The biggest question that is on the minds of everyone is about the captaincy styles of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. Shikhar Dhawan addressed this and spoke glowingly about both the former Indian skippers.

Considered one of India’s amazing talents of this era, Shikhar Dhawan also spoke about his equation with Rohit Sharma. The two are great friends on and off the field after opening for India over a decade.

The Times of India sat down with India star Shikhar Dhawan. When asked to speak on the leadership styles of Dhoni and Kohli, the 38-year-old had nothing but praise for the two. It was under MS Dhoni that Dhawan made his ODI and Test Debut for India.

Speaking about MSD, this is what Dhawan said, “Dhoni bhai is known for his calm and composed demeanour on the field. Regardless of the match situation. This cool-headed approach has been a hallmark of his captaincy. Dhoni bhai is often praised for his instinctive decision-making. He trusts his cricketing instincts and has a knack for making the right calls.”

Shikhar Dhawan also went on to praise the man-management skills and Dhoni’s calm nature. While speaking about Virat Kohli, the left-handed batter came up with a few key observations.

Virat Kohli has cultivated a youthful and energetic team environment. He encourages young talents and is willing to back them, providing opportunities for them to flourish. Kohli places a strong emphasis on fitness and conditioning,” he added.

During the interview, Dhawan was asked if he was shocked by the failure to make it to the Asian Games team. The 38-year-old replied that while he wasn’t hurt, he was certainly shocked and spoke about him accepting the situation.

Finally speaking about Rohit Sharma, this is what Shikhar Dhawan said, “Rohit and I have formed one of the most successful opening partnerships for the Indian Cricket Team. I Seriously give credit for a lot of my best performances to Rohit’s support.”
