Pakistan and India don’t compete against each other in bilateral events. However, Pakistan cricketer, Shan Masood is likely to play a T20 international against India on 1st July 2022. For the unversed, Masood recently made his county championship debut for Derbyshire Cricket Club.
Masood played his first game for the club at Lord’s this week. He impressed one and all with his batting exploits and fell just nine runs short of a century.
Notably, India are set to tour England for three ODIs, three T20 internationals, and one Test match. Besides, Rohit Sharma and Co. are also scheduled to play two T20 warm-up matches against Derbyshire and Northamptonshire on July 1 and July 3 respectively.
Derbyshire in that game will have players like Shan Masood, and former Sri Lanka fast bowler, Suranga Lakmal as part of the side.
“India will travel to The Incora County Ground to face Derbyshire in a Twenty20 Tour Fixture on Friday 1 July,” Derbyshire shared in a press release.
“The number-one ranked T20 side in the world will continue their ICC Twenty20 World Cup preparations against a Derbyshire side, which includes the likes of Pakistan international, Shan Masood, and former Sri Lanka fast bowler, Suranga Lakmal,” it added
Shan Masood will be part of the team as Pakistan don’t have any fixtures in the first week of July. The Men in Green will be touring Netherlands for an ODI series at the end of July before going to Sri Lanka in August.
Pakistan recently played an all-format home series against Australia. Babar Azam and Co. suffered a 1-0 defeat in Test series but bounced back strongly in the ODIs. The Men in Green beat Australia in the ODI series by a 2-1 margin before losing the only T20 international by 3 wickets.
Skipper Babar Azam led the way with the bat throughout the series. He was the third-highest run-getter in the Test series, second highest wicket-taker in the ODIs and top-scored in the only T20 international played between the two sides.
