On 9 February 2023, the much-awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy kicked off in Nagpur. Fans were thrilled to see both India and Australia in action in the first Test. However, Australian fans were hoping to see David Warner in full form in the series opener. He recently managed a double century in the home Test series against the Proteas. In that series, Warner scored 213 runs in four innings, at an average of 53.25. Speaking of the match, Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first. For Australia, David Warner and Usman Khawaja came out to open the innings.

But, Indian pacers were on fire as they sent back both the openers after just two runs on the board. Both David Warner and Khawaja managed only one run each in the first innings. Mohammed Shami took the wicket of Warner with a vicious in-swinger and the left-handed batter had no clue about it. Speaking of the video, the incident took place during the third over. On the first delivery of that over, Warner went for a front-foot defensive shot. But, the ball swung in and hit the top of the off-stump.

After seeing such a dismissal, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media platforms. Thus, Warner failed to perform in another Test inning in India. But, this time he failed to pace instead of a spinner. Ahead of this series, David Warner said: “I am really looking forward to that tour. It is always a hard graft. The one thing I am really looking forward to about that is applying myself against the best spinners in the world. Being a part of that last Ashes was fantastic but beating India in India, that is the toughest challenge for us.”
