The senior Indian pacer Mohammed Shami is currently in action with the Indian team during the ongoing three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The 32-year-old speedster hasn’t lived up to the expectations so far in the series and has scalped only one wicket in the two matches he played so far against the Islanders.
Apart from that, he has leaked a total of 110 runs to scalp only one wicket including both Guwahati and Kolkata ODI. These poor outings of Shami have left the fans furious about his place in the playing XI instead of playing Arshdeep Singh in the 50-overs format.
Recently, a section of Indian cricket fans took to Twitter and demanded the Amorha-born pacer’s exit from the team and to keep him only in the red-ball template of India.
Here’s how fans reacted to the poor performances of Mohammed Shami:
India will now lock horns with Sri Lanka in the third and final of the three-match ODI series at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday, the 15th of January. Following the conclusion of the ODI series against the Islanders, the men in blue will take on New Zealand in the three-match ODI series followed by a T20I series having the same number of matches.
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium of Hyderabad will host the first of the three-match ODI series between Rohit Sharma’s men and the Kiwis on Wednesday, the 18th of January next week.
Notably, it will also be a question to answer for the Indian team management whom will they play in place of out-of-form in the remaining match of the series against Sri Lanka followed by the ODI series against the Blackcaps?
Although, Shami has been a good call for selectors in red-ball cricket and they might eye on him in the upcoming full-fledged four-match Test series against Australia. Both teams will play the first of the four Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.
