Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been a top platform where uncapped players have come up through the ranks over the years. In this ongoing season, Rinku Singh has hit the headlines while playing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Against Gujarat Titans (GT), he smashed five consecutive sixes in the last over of the match while his team needed 29 runs from five balls.
In five matches this season, Rinku has scored 174 runs, including one fifty. He has been delivering for KKR finally after the franchise showed a lot of trust over the year both on and off the field. Now, this batter is set to inaugurate a hostel for poverty-stricken cricketers in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.
Rinku Singh is going to spend the whole expenditure on the hostel
Punjab Kings (PBKS) bought Rinku Singh for INR 10 Lakhs in IPL 2017. But, he did not make any debut. Then, in 2018, KKR bought him for INR 80 Lakhs. After that, in 2018, he played four games, five games in 2019, and a single game in 2020. Then, Rinku missed the entire IPL 2021 due to an injury. After that, in 2022, Rinku played seven matches for KKR and played a few top knocks.
While speaking to the Daily, Masooduz-Zafar Amini, Rinku's childhood coach from Aligarh, said: "He always wanted to build a hostel for young players, who do not have financial resources to pursue their dreams. As he is financially sound now, he has decided to make it a reality".
"The work started around three months ago with Rinku watching the progress from close quarters before heading to join his team. The hostel will have 14 rooms and each one can accommodate four trainees. A shed and a pavilion are also being constructed. Separate toilets are also being constructed. These trainees can have food at the canteen being run at the place. It will cost around `50 lakh and the whole expenditure is being borne by Rinku," his coach further added.
