The new season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League kicked off on November 23 with two games on the day. As many as eight teams will compete for the coveted title for the first time in the history of the tournament. Previously, six teams such as Deccan Gladiators, Delhi Bulls, Bangla Tigers, Northern Warriors, Chennai Braves, and Team Abu Dhabi competed in the tournament.
This time around, teams such as New York Strikers and Samp Army have joined the league. Meanwhile, there is another change in the tournament. For the first time, seven Indian players will feature in the tournament. Most of them are notable figures in world cricket while some have been World Cup winners. So without further ado, let's discuss the names of the Indian players featuring in the tournament.
Seven Indian players featuring in Abu Dhabi T10 League
1. Yuvraj Singh
Two-time World Cup winner for India, the left-hander will be part of the league for the first time. He will be the mentor of the debutants, New York Strikers. He retired from international cricket and Indian cricket in mid-2019. Since then, he has played in the Global T20 League, Canada, and Road Safety World Series.
2. Sreesanth
Another two-time World Cup winner for the Men In Blue, the right-arm pacer has been signed by Bangla Tigers. Just like Yuvraj, he was part of the 2007 20-20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup. He played in the Indian T20 League for the last time in 2013. Nine years after this, he will feature in a league.
3. Suresh Raina
Part of the 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy winning side, Raina will play for Deccan Gladiators. He went unsold in the Indian T20 League player auction in February this year. Months after that, he decided to retire from Indian cricket, after already retiring from the international level in 2020.
4. Harbhajan Singh
Another member of the 2007 and 2011 triumphs, the former off-spinner is roped in by Delhi Bulls. He retired from the game around a year ago. He played for Kolkata in the cash-rich league. Meanwhile, the legendary player will be joined by Dwayne Bravo, his former teammate in the Chennai outfit.
5. Nav Pabreja
He is a Delhi-based cricketer who will play for the Strikers.
6. Stuart Binny
The former India all-rounder will feature for the Strikers. He was part of the 2015 ODI World Cup team that lost to eventual title winners, Australia in the semis. In the Indian T20 League, he has played for Bangalore and Rajasthan and played his last in 2018.
7. Abhimanyu Mithun
The seventh and last player to feature in the league is Mithun. The right-arm pacer played a handful of games for India. He also played for Bangalore and Hyderabad in the biggest T20 League. Late last year, he retired from all forms of the game.
