‘Sara bhabhi ko leke Mahakaleshwar ja’ - Fans slam Shubman Gill for scoring duck against Australia in 2nd ODI

Team India took on the Aussies in the second game of the ongoing three-match ODI series in Vizag. The Men in Blue won the series opener but face a terrible batting collapse at the top order in Mumbai. India were struggling terribly by losing four wickets for 39 runs in 10 overs. Star batters like Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav went cheaply.

So, fans were not happy with such a from the top order batters. Especially, Shubman Gill disappointed his fans as he scored only 20 runs off 31 balls, including three fours. Gill came to this series with a century in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He impressed everyone when he got opportunities in the last two Tests.

All fans along with some former team India cricketers were asking team management to include Shubman Gill in the playing XI instead of picking KL Rahul as the opener. After missing the first two matches, he got an opportunity in the last two Tests. In those three innings, he scored 154 runs. Gill has been the most in-form batter for the Men in Blue in all three formats recently. He scored his first Test ton in December 2022. Then, he scored ODI centuries at home along with his maiden T20I ton followed by the Test century against the Aussies in Ahmedabad.

So, despite a failure in the first ODI, fans were hoping to see Shubman Gill scoring big in the second game. Speaking of the game, Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first. For India, the skipper Rohit Sharma and Gill came out to open. But, the star young batter failed once again as he went for a duck. Mitchell Starc took his wicket as he went to drive a ball that was much wider than his off-stump. Seeing that dismissal, fans went berserk and slammed the batter on the social media platform.
