Sanju Samson, the Indian batter, is often neglected and the board is yet to give a perfect clarification on the same, given that the Indian batter was rested for the entire T20I series against New Zealand without any obvious reason. As things stand, the news of him getting the Ireland contract hit the headlines and rocked the entire country, while many believed those were only rumours.
However, the reports seem to be quite true and much to the delight of the Indian fans, Samson rejected the offer, claiming that he wants to play only for India. Fans, who came to know of the same, were all praises for the talented batter, given that Samson has not spoken anything against the board or anyone despite getting sidelined time and time again.
Could Sanju Samson get call-up for 2023 World Cup?
With India banking on youngsters who would stand up for the team in the future, the likes of Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan and Umran Malik are being groomed with the hope that they would shine in the near future. Notably, all three are supremely talented and Malik, at present, is the only bowler from India who can clock 150 km/h often.
While fans are happy about the same, they doubt if the selectors would call back Samson for the upcoming 50-over World Cup to be played in India in 2023. There is no clarification about the same and it remains a mystery if there would be some space for Samson to sneak into the squad.
The right-handed batter was reasonably good in all of the opportunities that he was provided with, in the current year in specific. Given that he led the Rajasthan franchise to the summit clash in the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League, India might as well have captain material in him, but in vain as the board refuse to give him the opportunity.
Samson’s future with the Indian team remains doubtful, although one has to agree that he might get a call-up anytime, as he is the second-choice wicketkeeper barring KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant in the white-ball format and it is up to the selectors to take a call.
