The 62-run stand for the fourth wicket between Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel steadied the Pakistan innings. Pakistan was on the score of 110 runs when Shakeel fell prey to senior New Zealand pacer Tim Southee. Then came the former Pak skipper and veteran wicketkeeper-batter Sarfaraz Ahmed on the number five to accompany skipper Babar Azam in the middle.

Notably, the 35-year-old has made his Test comeback after a long wait of three years since he played his last red-ball match against South Africa at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg in the year 2019.

Making a stunning Test comeback, the veteran Karachi batter played a crucial knock of 86 runs with nine boundaries to his name before getting out off Ajaz Patel.
