Jonny Bairstow is currently out of contention for the England team due to his ligament injury. He missed the 20-20 World Cup after getting injured in September 2022. Bairstow damaged his ligament after slipping on a golf course. After the World Cup, he also missed both the Test series in New Zealand and Pakistan.

Now, reports have come out that the devastating wicketkeeper batter from England is going to miss the upcoming Indian T20 League for the Punjab franchise. It will be a huge loss if he does not turn up for the franchise. His explosive batting abilities at the top order can be vital for any team.

Jonny Bairstow scored 253 runs in the Indian T20 League 2022 for Punjab

He had a decent last season for the Punjab franchise. He scored just 253 runs in 11 matches, at an average of 23. Bairstow also smacked two fifties in that season but his strike rate was 144.57. Speaking about the player, he last played for England in the Test series against the Proteas in England. In that series, he scored 67 runs in three innings while he had a good ODI and T20I series against the same opposition. Bairstow scored 147 runs in the three-match T20I series while scoring 91 runs in two ODI innings.

Last year, Punjab finished in the sixth position with 14 points from 14 games. Mayank Agarwal was the skipper but this year, the franchise let the Indian player go. So, Shikhar Dhawan has been appointed as the new skipper of the franchise. Bairstow has played 250 international matches so far where he has scored 10453 runs across all three formats. He has smacked 23 centuries along with 46 fifties. So, the Punjab fans were not happy with the reports of him missing the upcoming edition. The franchise might look for a replacement if he finally misses the whole tournament. However, no official statement regarding it has not come up on social media platforms.
