S Sreesanth registers for mega auction for base price of INR 50 Lakh

Amidst all the hype pertaining to the upcoming edition of the Indian T20 League, the much-anticipated list of players for the upcoming mega auction was released on Saturday. It consisted of all the players who were interested to feature in the biggest T20 tournament in the world.

However, the one name in this list that caught everyone's attention was that of S Sreesanth. The Kerala pacer hasn't played in the league for a while now. As a matter of fact, the last time he played in the Indian T20 league was in 2013, when he was playing for the Rajasthan Royals.

After which, he was handed a lifetime ban by the BCCI in September 2013 for his alleged involvement in the spot-fixing scandal. Nevertheless, the ban was reduced to seven years by a BCCI Ombudsman in 2019. Thus, the pacer was cleared to return to professional Cricket by September 2020.

Sreesanth has registered for the mega auction with a base price of INR 50 lakh. The Keralite had put his name during the 2021 auction as well, but he failed to make the cut in the final list.

Before 2013, he represented as many as three franchises, namely Punjab, Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Rajasthan. In total, he has picked 44 wickets in the Indian T20 league so far. Sreesanth recently played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy during the 2020/21 season where he picked up a total of 13 wickets in 6 innings at an average of 24.38 for Kerala.
