Samson recalled the days when he made his comeback in the Indian team during the tour of New Zealand at the start of 2020. He revealed that it was hard for him to gel up well with the team members at that time. However, the then skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma helped him ease out and get comfortable around the group. He also revealed that Rohit Sharma offered him to go out to have dinner with him.

"I remember I was in NZ, Rohit Sharma bhai was there, Virat Kohli bhai was there. You don't know who to Approach, who to talk to, what to say, Rohit Bhai then came & said, come on, let's go have dinner. I said oh okey sure let's go bhaiya. It was very nice of him." - Sanju Samson said on ‘Breakfast with Champions.

The Rajasthan skipper then went on to praise Rahul Dravid for his charismatic personality. He stated that the former Indian skipper talks to everyone in the same manner, whether he is the owner of the Rajasthan franchise or the groundsman.
