Australia opener David Warner has revealed he lost his 'sentimental' Baggy Green cap ahead of his farewell Test match. On the eve of the third and final Test against Pakistan, Warner took to his social media to report that his Baggy Green had been stolen from his backpack and requested its return. The 37-year-old had returned to his hometown of Sydney to bring the curtain down on his illustrious career.

In a video post on Instagram on Tuesday, Warner said the backpack went missing on a December 31 Qantas flight from Melbourne to Sydney. The southpaw appealed to his followers to help him get back the backpack and assured them that the person who took it would not face any trouble. He even offered to give up a spare backpack to the person.

"Inside this backpack was my Baggy Green. It's sentimental to me. It's something I'd love to have in my hands walking out there this week. If it's the backpack you really wanted, I have a spare one here. You won't get into trouble. Please reach out to Cricket Australia or myself via my social media. I'm happy to give this to you if you return my Baggy Green," Warner said.

"We've gone through CCTV footage, they've got some blind spots apparently. We've spoken to the Quay West hotel who we absolutely trust, they've gone through their cameras and no one has gone into our rooms," he added.

Warner retires from ODI cricket ahead of final Test

Warner, who had earlier announced that the Sydney Test would be his last Test, called time on his ODI career on Monday, January 1. However, the veteran added that if he plays good cricket in the next two years time, he will return to the team to play in the 2025 Champions Trophy.

“I’ve got to give back to the family and also on the back of that [World Cup] I’m definitely retiring from one-day cricket as well. It’ll help the one-day team move along a bit,” he said at a news conference on Monday.

“I know there’s a Champions Trophy coming up. If I’m playing decent cricket in two years’ time and I’m around and they need someone, I’m going to be available," he added.
