On 19 February  2023, team India defeated Australia in the second game of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Delhi. Thus, the Men in Blue officially retained the trophy with two more matches to go. But, now the Indian Cricket Board shared the squads for the last two Tests and the ODI series against the Aussies.

However, they also confirmed that Rohit Sharma will not be available for the first ODI due to family commitments. So, Hardik Pandya will lead the team in Rohit’s absence. However, the current India skipper will be back for the last two ODIs. Speaking of the squad, pacer Jaydev Unadkat has managed a place in the squad.

India’s squad for the ODI series against Australia: Rohit Sharma (C), S Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya (VC), R Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, W Sundar, Y Chahal, Mohd Shami, Mohd Siraj, Umran Malik, Shardul Thakur, Axar Patel, and Jaydev Unadkat.

However, they also announced the squads for the last two Test matches. KL Rahul still gets retained but he will not be the vice-captain. After seeing the squads, fans went crazy and shared their views. Some fans also shared their confusion regarding the missing of Rohit Sharma from the first ODI. Meanwhile, it will be a huge opportunity for Hardik Pandya to lead the Men in Blue in the ODI format. But, some fans were not happy with the news that Pandya will lead the team in the 50-over format.

Speaking about Rohit Sharma’s form in ODIs, he recently won both the home ODI series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand respectively. In the series against the Lankans, he scored 142 runs in three matches. While, against the Kiwis, Rohit scored 186 runs in three matches. So, fans will miss him in the action during that first ODI against the Aussies.
