Virat Kohli, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star batter, spent his Sunday intently observing game 51 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the defending champions.

The 34-year-old batsman, the season's fifth-highest run scorer, complimented GT star Wriddhiman Saha for his thunderous 81-run knock off just 43 deliveries. The 38-year-old cricketer smashed 10 fours and four sixes in just 20 balls to get his fifty.

Saha could be seen on Kohli's TV screen in an Instagram story he posted. 'What a player', he wrote as the story's caption. Later, as LSG pursued 228 runs, Rashid Khan ran in from deep fine leg to catch Kyle Mayers with an incredible catch, covering nearly 26 metres.

The menacing 88-run opening stand between Mayers and Quinton de Kock off 48 balls was broken by the sliding catch. This time, Kohli recorded the stunning play on his TV and put it online, calling it "One of the best catches I've ever seen. Brilliant." Later, both cricketers reposted Virat Kohli's appreciation post on their Instagram stories and acknowledged Kohli's gesture.

Following Rashid's catch, LSG's innings quickly fell apart, and 56 runs defeated the visitors. Gujarat has increased their advantage at the top with 16 points after 11 games thanks to the victory. LSG have now lost all three of their recent games. They earned a point from the rain-shortened match against CSK, but on May 1, they fell short at home against RCB by 18 runs.

The appreciation for the two GT players from Virat Kohli is believed to be a reaction to LSG coach Gautam Gambhir's involvement. During the two's previous meeting, Naveen-ul-Haq of the LSG and their coach Gautam Gambhir got into an incident with Kohli on the field. For the argumentative exchange, Kohli and Gambir were each penalised 100% of their match fee. Following the nasty episode, the three players created cryptic social media postings and comments for each other.
