The previous edition of the Road Safety World Series tournament was an absolute success. It saw several legendary cricketers play on the field, and reminded the fans of their childhood days. However, in a shocking turn of events, the second edition of the tournament has run into some issues.
According to a report by My Khel, several cricketers have complained of unpaid dues from the first season. As a matter of fact, even Sachin Tendulkar, who was a part of India legends in the previous season, is yet to get his full payment. Thus, he has decided to disassociate from the RSWS this time around.
It is to be noted that the legendary batter was also the brand ambassador of the tournament's first edition, with Sunil Gavaskar being the commissioner of the event. This report further states that an anonymous source confirmed Tendulkar's unavailability for the second season of the RSWS.
Several Bangladesh players are yet to be paid
"Sachin will not be a part of RSWS this season. The tournament is marked from March 1-19 in the UAE but Sachin will not be a part of this tournament in any form," said the source. "Yes, Sachin is among many cricketers who took part in the tournament, who haven't been paid by the organisers. And one needs to get in touch with a Ravi Gaikwad, who was the premier organiser," added the source when asked about the former Indian batter not being paid by the organization.
It has been reported by the Bangladesh media that several of their players who participated in this tournament are yet to be paid any money so far. These players include the likes of Khaled Mahmud 'Sujon', Khaled Mashud 'Pilot', Mehrab Hossain, Rajin Saleh, Hannan Sarkar, and Nafees Iqbal. A company known as Second Innings Sports and Entertainment were managing the teams.
Several players had signed under the aegis of a company called Majestic Legends Pvt Ltd and PMG. The first edition of the tournament, which began in 2020, committed 10 per cent to every player upon signing, another 40 per cent was supposed to be paid by February 25, 2021, and the remaining 50 per cent by March 31, 2021 as the tournament got postponed due to COVID-19.
