Reports: KKR batsman Nitish Rana tests positive for COVID-19

Days ahead of the Indian Premier League, the Kolkata Knight Riders have been dealt with a massive blow. If a report from ‘Dainik Bhaskar’ is to be believed, their premier batsman Nitish Rana has been tested positive for the Coronavirus and is currently being monitored by the doctors in Mumbai. Rana, who was part of the Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophy is said to have returned a positive result two days ago. The southpaw returned to Mumbai after a vacation in Goa.

If the reports are found to be true, it will be a major concern for KKR as Nitish Rana has been one of their mainstays in the middle order. He accumulated more than 300 runs in each of his last four seasons. In the previous edition, despite not living up to the expectations, Rana scored 352 runs at a healthy strike rate of 138.58. Apart from Rana, no other camp has reported any Corona positive case as of yet. KKR will kick off their IPL 2021 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11.
Talking about Rana's overall stats, the elegant batsmen has scored 1437 runs at an average of 28.18 and a strike rate of 135.57. He is also very handy with the ball in hand. Even though he has managed to pick up just 7 wickets, an economy of 8.57 is more than acceptable. The three times champions KKR are one of the contenders for the title and boast of a quality squad.

Full Squad: Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell, Dinesh Karthik, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Kuldeep Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Nitish Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Rinku Singh, Sandeep Warrier, Shivam Mavi, Shubman Gill, Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, Rahul Tripathi, Varun Chakravarthy, Ali Khan, Tim Seifert, Harbhajan Singh (2 crore), Karun Nair , Pawan Negi, Venkatesh Iyer, Vaibhav Arora, Sheldon Jackson, Shakib Al Hasan, Ben Cutting.
