For Lucknow Super Giants, they have a major update. Gautam Gambhir will remain as mentor ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Earlier reports indicated that Gambhir had excused himself from the post of LSG mentor due to the General elections in 2024. Gambhir was with the LSG side for two seasons as a mentor. The LSG side had two playoff finishes in 2022 and 2024.
Despite being a new franchise, it was a great start for LSG. Ahead of the IPL 2024 season, they have replaced Justin Langer with Andy Flower as Head Coach of the franchise. Gambhir and Langer have worked together before when the former Indian opener had flown down to Australia to get some coaching tips which helped Gambhir make some changes in his technique that has helped him to score runs.
MSK Prasad has a stellar track record when it comes to cricket operations -Lucknow Super Giants
Another appointment that LSG made going into the 2024 IPL season was to bring in MSK Prasad as a strategic consultant. Prasad has also served as former chairman of the sectors for the Indian Team. He has been involved with selecting teams for a long period of time and he could be called in to bring some more youngsters to the LSG side.
“Prasad brings with him a wealth of experience and a stellar track record in cricket operations, coupled with a passion that has driven him to remarkable achievements in both national and international arenas. His journey is marked by a range of accomplishments that span from representing the Indian National Cricket Team to steering the operations of prominent cricket associations; all of which will bring valuable insights and experience to our organization,” the franchise said in a statement.
The other changes that have happened in the IPL have been Flower coming up on board as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) head coach. Daniel Vettori has replaced Brian Lara as Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Head coach. Gambhir is currently working as a commentator at the Asia Cup where the Super Four games will start on September 9.
