The 15th match of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) took place between Colombo Strikers (CLS) and Galle Titans (GLT).  CLS had to win this game to qualify for the LPL playoffs. The coin went the way of GLT as they elected to bowl first. CLS could not get going with the bat at all as  They lost Pathum Nissanka who made 2 off 4 balls to Lahiru Kumara and Babar Azam who hit only 6 off 12 balls to Kumara.

Lahiru Udra, Nipun Dhananjaya, Nuwanidu Fernando and Mohammad Nawaz were the four batters who got into double figures. The lower-middle order comprising of Iftikhar Ahmed, and Chamika Karunaratne failed to get going as well. Shoriful Islam and Jeffrey Vandersay fell for first-ball ducks to Seekkuge Prasanna. It appeared as if the CLS batting lineup had pressed a self-destruct button and they could never get their act together. This meant that CLS folded up for 74 runs in just 15.4 overs.

Seekkuge Prasanna took 3-12 in his three-overs spell for Galle Titans

All the above-mentioned batters who got into double figures were no match for the magic of South African spin wizard Tabraiz Shamsi as he picked up 4-20 in his four overs spell. Prasanna took 3-14 in his three overs spell. Kumara scalped 2-9 in his spell of two overs. Shakib Al Hasan was as economical as ever for GLT as he conceded just 8 runs in his spell of 3.4 overs and scalped the wicket of Iftikhar.

In the run chase, GLT found it an absolute breeze. They had a small stutter as Iftikhar had Banuka Rajapaksa stumped by Udara. Lasith Croospulle took matters into his own hands and cracked an unbeaten stroke-filled 42 off 25 balls with four fours and three sixes. Even though they lost Litton Das for 1 off 4 balls. Shakib came in at number 4 and made 17 off 15 balls with two fours.

He provided great company to Croospulle as he finished the chase with him in an emphatic fashion.GLT wiped out the target in just 8.3 overs and made their way to the qualifiers of LPL 2023. For CLS their journey in the tournament came to an end.
