Ravindra Jadeja strongly reacts to father's bombshell revelations on strained relationship with Team India all-rounder and his wife

Ravindra Jadeja's father made shocking revelations about his strained relationship with his son and Rivaba Jadeja, the cricketer’s wife. The Team India all-rounder tied the knot with Rivaba, a mechanical engineer, in a grand ceremony in Rajkot in 2016. Jadeja's father Anirudhsinh alleged that his relationship with his son deteriorated after their marriage.

In an interview with Gujarati newspaper Divya Bhaskar, Jadeja's father said that he has no relationship with his son and Rivaba and that the problems started after two or three months of their marriage. Anirudhsinh accused Rivaba of causing a rift in the family.

“I currently live alone in Jamnagar, while Ravindra resides in a separate bungalow of his own. He lives in the same city, but I don't get to see him. I don't know what magic his wife has done on him. He is my son, and it burns my heart. I wish I hadn't gotten him married. It would have been better if he hadn't become a cricketer. We would not have to go through all this in that case," Jadeja’s father said. 

"Within three months of the marriage, she told me that everything should be transferred to her name. She created a rift in our family. She didn't want the family and desired an independent life. I could be wrong, and Naynaba (Ravindra's sister) could be wrong, but you tell me, how can all 50 members of our family be wrong? There's no relation with anyone in the family; there's just hate."

"I don't want to hide anything. We haven't even seen the face of our granddaughter in five years. Ravindra's in-laws manage everything. They interfere in everything. They are making merry now because they have got a bank," Anirudhsinh added. 

Jadeja reacts strongly to his father's allegations 

Jadeja was quick to respond to his father's bombshell revelations. Mentioning the interview as "scripted", the 35-year-old took to his social media account to claim that his father tried to tarnish his and his wife's image.

"All the things mentioned in the Dainik Bhaskar interview is nonsense. It is completely meaningless and untrue. These are attempts to tarnish the image of my wife which are truly reprehensible. I also have a lot of things to say but don't say them publicly." Jadeja wrote.

Meanwhile, Jadeja is set to play his next match at his home ground, the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, only if he fully recovers from the injury. The star cricketer missed the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam due to a hamstring injury. The Indian Cricket Board is yet to announce the squad for the remaining three Tests and it is not certain whether Jadeja's name will be included.
