Team India registered a 41-run victory over Sri Lanka in the ‘Super 4’ clash of the ongoing Asia Cup on 12 September 2023 in Colombo. With that win, they qualified for the final and fans were happy with the bowlers’ performances. Kuldeep Yadav was the star with four wickets while Ravindra Jadeja grabbed two wickets for 33 runs in 10 overs.
The pitch was slowish and balls were gripping as Sri Lanka’s spinners took all of India’s 10 wickets. So, both Kuldeep and Jadeja took seven wickets. However, the star all-rounder became the highest wicket-taker for India in the history of Asia Cup ODIs. He broke the record of the former Team India international, Irfan Pathan.
Ravindra Jadeja has 199 ODI wickets to his name
After yesterday’s match, Jadeja has now taken 24 wickets in 18 matches. In the overall list, he is now in the fifth spot. This star all-rounder has been an essential part of the Men in Blue across all three formats. Till now, he has played 181 ODIs and in 174 innings, he has taken 199 wickets, at an economy of 4.89. Speaking of his performance against Sri Lanka, his first wicket came on the first delivery of his fifth over. He dismissed the Sri Lanka skipper, Dasun Shanaka for nine runs as Rohit Sharma took a sharp catch at the slips. Then, Jadeja took his second wicket on the third delivery of the ninth over.

Dhananjaya de Silva and Dunith Wellage were going stronger with a 63-run partnership for the seventh wicket. But, Ravindra Jadeja broke that vital partnership as Dhananjaya got out after scoring 41 runs. His best performance in this tournament has been four wickets for 29 runs in 10 overs against Bangladesh in the 2018 edition. He also won the Player of the Match award in that match as India won that game by seven wickets. This ‘Super 4’ clash took place in Dubai. In this ongoing edition, Jadeja has taken five wickets in three innings. Only against Pakistan, he went wicketless in his five overs.
