Probably, the ongoing edition of the 20-20 World Cup is not for the faint-hearted people. This has been proved by another nail-biting thriller between Afghanistan and Australia in the 38th match of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Afghan skipper Mohammad Nabi won the toss and asked the hosts to bat first at the turf of Adelaide Oval.
Batting first, Australia posted a total of 168 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. While chasing the target, Afghanistan made it very tough for the men in yellow to heave a sigh of relief till the last ball of the match.
Cricket fans appreciated the intent of the Afghan side and they were in all praise of the star all-rounder Rashid Khan who took the match to the last ball and kept his team in the fight.

Speaking of the match, Australia lost their first wicket only on the score of 22 runs in the form of Cameron Green who could score only 3 runs off two balls. Later on, the brilliant individual knocks of 45 and 54 runs respectively from Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell helped Australia to post a total of 168 runs losing eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Pacer Naveen-ul-Haq ended up as the leading wicket-taker for Afghanistan with three scalps by conceding just 21 runs in his quota of four overs. Naveen was followed by Fazallhaq Farooqi who claimed two wickets at the cost of 29 runs.
While chasing the target, Ibrahim Zadran and Gulbadin Naib played the knocks of 39 and 26 runs respectively. Something that became the headline of the match by an excellent fighting knock from Rashid Khan who smashed 48 runs off just 23 balls with three boundaries and four sixes to his name. But unfortunately, his efforts went in vain as Afghanistan lost the match by four runs.
Glenn Maxwell was adjudged ‘player of the match for his half-century knock in the favour of Australia.
