World Test Championship 2023-2025 is producing some amazing cricket. India and England are embroiled in a huge five-match Test series. Rohit Sharma and his side won the second Test by 106 runs in Visakhapatnam recently.
Ben Stokes and Rohit Sharma are two of the most successful skippers in the current Test championship cycle. But there are other captains too who have left their imprint during the Test Cricket's biggest prize.
In this story, we rank the top five captains with the highest win percentage in World Test Championships.
5- Rohit Sharma – India – 54% - 7 wins
India’s current skipper Rohit Sharma has showcased his captaincy skills with amazing results. The 36-year-old last year led India to a 2-1 series win against Australia to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. This helped India to make their second finals appearance in the World Test Championships.
With a series win in West Indies, sterner tests awaited Rohit Sharma. The two Test series against South Africa began with a loss in Centurion followed by a win in Cape Town. Rohit Sharma is moving up the ladder as far as Captains with the highest win percentage in WTC are concerned. The Indian skipper has won 7 out of 13 Tests to accumulate 54% win percentage.
4- Tim Paine – Australia – 57% - 8 wins
Former Australian skipper Tim Paine took over the national captaincy at the height of the Sand-Paper saga. The Tasmanian was famously called ‘Temporary Captain’ by Rishabh Pant during the 2018 Test series.
Tim Paine wasn’t a normal stop-gap skipper as he won 8 Tests out of the 14 he led his team in. Tim Paine is fourth on the list of the Captains with the highest win percentage in WTC. The Aussie has a 57% win percentage with a famous 2-2 Ashes result in 2019.
