Rajasthan make fun of Sunil Gavaskar during their game against Delhi

The 58th game of the Indian T20 League 2022 saw Delhi beat Rajasthan by eight wickets. The Rishabh Pant-led side were clinical, to say the least. However, the 2008-champions had a golden opportunity of winning this game and sealing their spot in the playoffs but alas, they failed to do so.

Nevertheless, there were still some positive signs for the Sanju Samson-led side. While Ravichandran Ashwin scored his maiden half-century in the Indian T20 league, Devdutt Padikkal scored a 30-ball 48. In the meantime, Rajasthan's official Twitter account took a sarcastic dig at Sunil Gavaskar as well. It was during Padikkal's innings itself.

It is to be noted that the 2008-champions are famous on the micro-blogging website for their witty sense of humour, as well as their memes. During the 13th over of the first innings, Padikkal hit two sixes and then took a single. Thus, Rajasthan took this opportunity to troll Gavaskar. While the legendary Indian batter has been widely regarded as one of the best commentators, he has often expressed the importance of rotating the strike after hitting a big shot.

"*𝐻𝑖𝑑𝑠 π‘‘π‘€π‘œ 𝑠𝑖π‘₯𝑒𝑠. π‘‡π‘Žπ‘˜π‘’π‘  π‘Ž 𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑒. π‘†π‘šπ‘Žπ‘Ÿπ‘‘ π‘π‘Žπ‘‘π‘‘π‘–π‘›π‘”!*" read the caption of the Tweet posted by Rajasthan's Twitter account. They added an image of Gavaskar as well. Thus, it didn't take too long for it to go viral. Fans chucked over their witty sense of humour.

As far as the game is concerned, the Rajasthan-based franchise got to 160 in the first innings, and lost six wickets in the process. However, Delhi chased their target without breaking a sweat. They scored 161 in 18.1 overs. Thus, Rajasthan's captain Samson was disappointed by the performance of his side.

"Very disappointing night. We were few runs short, and few wickets short in the middle. While we were batting the wicket was two paced. We were 15-20 runs short. While bowling second we dropped a few catches. Really disappointed, but we would like to come back in the next game. I never thought it (Marsh's lbw) could have been pad, we thought it came off the bat. We need to come back stronger after losing any game in ITL, and I hope we come back stronger. We have done that in the past. Hetmyer will be back soon," said Sanju Samson during the post-match presentation.
