Heading into the 20th game of the Indian T20 league 2022, Rajasthan and Lucknow were in superb form. However, it was Rajasthan who managed to win their third game. They beat Lucknow by three runs. Fans witnessed an absolute thriller as the game went up to the last over. At the end, it was Rajasthan who managed to hold their nerves.
After being asked to bat first, the 2008-champions didn't take too many risks and played it safe. It is to be noted that they had a new opening combination. As Yashasvi Jaiswal wasn't playing today's match, it was Devdutt Padikkal who opened the innings alongside Jos Buttler.
Rajasthan got to 44 runs in the first six overs. After which, they had a batting collapse as they were reduced to 67-4 in 10 overs. While everybody expected the Sanju Samson-led side to bow down rather readily, Shimron Hetmyer had other plans. He played an absolute gem of an innings.
The aggressive batter scored a magnificent 59 from 36 balls. As a matter of fact, he was well supported by Ravichandran Ashwin. The offie got a promotion in the batting order as he was asked to bat at six. Thus, Rajasthan scored 165-6, which was a decent score taking the pitch conditions into account.
The second innings saw Lucknow have a batting collapse. They lost their first few wickets rather cheaply. An important point to be noted is that their batting order was shuffled, and the all-rounders like Krishnappa Gowtham and Jason Holder bat at three and four respectively. The Lucknow-based franchise kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
However, Quinton de Kock stood strong and tried to hold the innings from one end. Yet, he perished after scoring 39. Lucknow's decision to send Marcus Stoinis raised a lot of eyebrows. He instilled life into this game and scored a quickfire 38 from 17 balls. It wasn't enough as they fell short of their target by three runs. Several users took to Twitter to speak about the game.

As @ashwinravi99 becomes the first player to retire out in the IPL, I can’t help but think about the time he’s done with his playing days and is heading the ICC men’s Cricket Committee. Imagine the innovations he’ll bring into and for the game #IPL2022

Dropping Hetmyer and then saving Stoinis at the back end costed Lucknow the game... You can't allow RR batters to cross 160-170 with their potent bowling attack... #LSGvRR #IPL2022
