With over 42 crore INR in the bank, the Hyderabad franchise went all out for the Three Lions allrounder and eventually bagged him for the whopping price, when the least expected. The Hyderabad franchise released their skipper Williamson ahead of the auction and eventually had a squad size of 12.

While the likes of Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Cameron Green, Jason Holder and Odean Smith were expected to go for the highest bid, Brook, out of nowhere, bagged the whopping amount and stunned everyone on a crucial day. With the big names yet to come, it remained to be seen if the teams would make any changes after witnessing the strategic moves of the Hyderabad team.

The right-handed batter has played 99 matches in the T20s and has gathered 2432 runs, at an average of 33 and a strike rate of around 148. Given that Hyderabad were in desperate need of an attacking batter, Brook will go down as one of the best buys for the team in the ongoing mini-auction.

To add more to Hyderabad’s outing from Set 1, post buying the English allrounder for a whopping amount, the team went all out yet again, but this time for an Indian player. Mayank Agarwal, the skipper of the Punjab team in the previous edition, was released ahead of the mini-auction.

With around 29 crore in the purse money, the Orange brigade left no stone unturned for the Indian star and eventually got involved in a strategic war with the MS Dhoni-led Chennai franchise. With them opting out of the bid with Hyderabad at 8.25 crore, the opener was roped into the Orange brigade for the upcoming season.
