If reports are to be believed, Multan Sultans have traded Shahid Afridi and James Vince to Quetta Gladiators for the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Afridi has often spoken about ending his PSL career while representing Quetta Gladiators.
Injuries have kept Afridi away from the game for the last few months. He skipped the second leg of PSL and also the Abu Dhabi T10 League due to the same. With age not by his side, Afridi might well be playing his final season of the tournament.
“Maybe this ends up being my last PSL. I would like to play for Quetta Gladiators this season, provided Multan allows me to leave. If Nadeem Omar and Quetta’s owners want to have me, I would love to represent them,” Afridi was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
Earlier, Quetta Gladiators owner Nadeem Omar had also expressed his desire to rope in Afridi for next season. “We are hopeful that Shahid Afridi will be part of Quetta Gladiators in HBL PSL 7. We will be really happy if that happens,” Omar told the Daily Express as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
“Afridi played a key part in the promotion of the Kashmir Premier League. Despite being unfit in the final, he fought hard and led his team to the title,” he added.
Afridi had a dismal outing for Multan Sultans last season where he picked two wickets and made three runs in the four games he played. On the other hand, Vince played five matches in Karachi, scoring 174 runs. Both players pulled out of the second leg.
The PSL is all set to get underway on January 27, with the final to be played on February 27. The matches will be played in Karachi and Lahore.
